Orphan
Year: 2009
Film: Orphan: A movie about a child like murderer
Song: This week it's the opening scene tune
Artist:: John Ottman
The song choice for this week's theme is the opening song for this movie. The song was composed by John Ottman who also wrote scores for movies like X-men united, Halloween H2O: 20 Years later, Astro Boy and the House of Wax plus several others.
The slow futuristic sounds build ambiance for the movie is as equally disturbing as the movie's plot. I am not an expert on scary movies, but I know that directors use music which not only tricks the psyche and triggers anxiety ( which they call suspense), but they love using noises which one can only hear when they are alone. For example, the first few bars of the song sounds like birds tweeting in the distances and a wind mill blowing in the breeze. Then a sudden distortion of something coming really fast....
Something is definitely wrong with Esther. She is this pint size girl who get adopted into families and murders her "father". Long story short she is a mentally disturbed women with a rare dwarfism disease which makes her seems like she is a child. For a more intelligent review link to The internet movie database.
